This Samue is number one standard of excellence, which made Bushu as the best-remembered place of indigo dyeing. This Samue requires time and effort to make. All the process of indigo dyeing such as making dye liquor carefully from Tadeai (a plant used for making dyestuff), coordinating the slight differences of the tone of a color by changing the number of soaking threads into dye liquor, washing in the clear stream of Bushu. Japanese indigo dyeing never accomplishes without the great techniques and trained sense of dyeing that indigo dyeing craftsmen have.
However, the successors to the Japanese traditional crafts are vanishing year after year and for that reason the number of indigo dyeing craftsmen has decreased. Also, due to the growth of chemical dyestuff, there are very rare places, which deal with indigo dyestuff made from plant. Thus there was the time we could not make Indigo Samue. But we didn't give up. We succeed in finding out a craftsman. What we liked about him best was his attitude toward indigo dyeing.

Indigo dyeing is the orthodox samue. It is made of 100% cotton, and dyed carefully by natural indigo of Bushu, where is famous as a region of indigo dyeing. We did not do anything unusual. We tried to bring old and good samue back to life, and that is the Indigo Samue.
