This samue, which was made in Kiryu, is ordered constantly. Kiryu is in a Gunma prefecture which locates northwest of Tokyo, and is famous for dyeing and weaving. The history of Kiryu textile is very old. It begins from the early 8th century. This 100% Cotton Samue was produced at Kiryu. This samue has a pongee-like texture and you will get attracted immediately if you touch it. The tops has a pocket on its inside, so it is convenient when you bring something small.
Kiryu, Gunma has been famous for the region of dyeing and weaving.
The traditional Kiryu textile means the textile, which is woven by traditional techniques that has already used in Edo period, and the products, which made from Kiryu textile. Those products are received high evaluations and accepted as the Traditional Crafts of Japan.
